Base treatment
A base IVF price may cover some combination of clinical consultations, monitoring, egg retrieval, fertilization, embryo culture and embryo transfer. The useful question is not “Is this a package?” but “Which exact steps are included in this number?”
Medications
Medication costs can vary by protocol and dose. Some clinic packages include them, others exclude them, and some can provide only an estimate until a clinician determines the treatment plan.
ICSI and lab services
Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), extended embryo culture and other laboratory services may be standard at one clinic and a separate charge at another. Compare the same services across quotes.
Genetic testing
When PGT is part of the plan, ask whether the quoted amount includes biopsy, laboratory testing, shipping, and how the price changes with the number of embryos tested.
Freezing, storage and frozen transfer
A treatment quote may include embryo freezing but not long-term storage, or include storage but not a later frozen embryo transfer. Ask for those future costs even if they are not due today.
Optional add-ons
Optional tests or treatments should be listed separately with their price and the clinic’s reason for recommending them. Evidence differs by add-on, so cost is only one part of that conversation.
Travel and outside monitoring
For treatment away from home, the clinic invoice may be only part of the budget. Local ultrasounds and bloodwork, flights, lodging, ground transportation and schedule changes can all matter.
